Finally, my vocation

On Valentines Day, someone finally asked me to marry them, and I said yes. Sounds romantic? Well, it sort of is. Friends of mine are getting married and I introduced them, so they've asked me to do the marriage ceremony for them. Should be a bit of fun. A big honour, so I was quite moved to have been asked.
In Ireland of course people just can't beleive their ears when I tell them. "Typical Californian."
A question that comes up early is "What will you wear?" So far the best suggestion has been an Elvis costume. That does bring a certain panache to it.
I also am considering a white linen suit, with large angel wings affixed to the back.

To really get a feel for this stuff I strongly recommend you google "online ordination". You get 2 million hits. I'm currently in the process of selecting the church for which I will be a minister.

dreams

I'd really like to do stand up again just to implement what i think is a great idea. I'd go on stage with no trousers on. Boxers probably. Perhaps boxer briefs. Or tighty whiteys might actually be funnier. Then I go up, look around and say ... "You know, dreams really can come true". Funny? I think so. I really think so. I'd like to be able to do it without explaining it, but I suspect not everyone would. It's good though.

making fun

It shouldn't be but it is. Making fun of people is fun. That's how it got that name. Shouldn't really be the way, but there you go.

Smelly coat

I washed my coat yesterday. (This is real blog stuff isn't it?) Well I think I over did it with the washing pod. I'm not sure if that's the name of it. The washing liquid is in a plastic sachet these days to help with portion control or something. Anyhow, I think the portion was too much for one coat. It smells very stongly of this stuff. As I walk along the street people are turning thier heads and looking up to check if they actually are in a Norwegian Pine Forest. My coats fabric has really hung on to the fabric conditioner and everyone benefits. I'm doing my little bit for the environment.

Concert dancing

I was out last night at a Bell X1 concert. It was pretty good for the most part, if a little self indulgent on the part of the band. They did a 7 song encore. Anyhow I became aware that while some of the younger ones were able to dance around the place, I was limiting myself to the concert dancing. This is normally just a head nodding, occassionally the lips are held thin to show appreciation. If a song is particularly good I'll rise up on my toes a bit in time with the music. When very excited I may even sway from side to side. Put together, these actually look pretty darn good. Hope I'm seated for my next concert.
